Earrings for Our April Fool

One of the more perplexing discussions Mary and I have had in our marriage is when our little girls should have their ears pierced. Mary would like to have it done in the hospital before we take the newborns home. I prefer to wait until they are in their mid 30s. Neither one of us is particularly passionate or stubborn about our view, but with four girls the conversation probably comes up in our family more than most.

Eight years old has seemed like a good age. We let the girls decide if they want their ears pierced or not.

Ellie turns eight today. Yesterday we took her to the mall to get some new earrings.

She picked out some new studs

And shopped for future earrings that she won't be allowed to wear

"What do you think?" asked Mary.

And a post piercing interview - you can't hear her very well because of the noisy Newgate Mall complete with train, but I wanted evidence that emotional scarring was kept to a minimum.
